  • Chapter 1. Basic Services for Members

    Article 1 (Purpose)
    ① The subscription system applies only to the main branch of the National Gugak Center (Seoul).
    ② This Terms of Use aims to state the application procedures for and benefits of the subscription system implemented by the main branch of the National Gugak Center (hereinafter referred to as “the NGC”), rights, obligations and responsibilities of the NGC and subscribed Members (consisting of “Euteum Members” and “Beogeum Members,” generally referred to as “Members”).

    Article 2 (Definition of Terms)
    ①“Membership Levels” refer to different groups of specialized paid services that are provided by the NGC for valid periods of relevant Subscriptions to subscribed Members.
    ②“Subscription” refers to the act of a Member signing up for a particular Membership to receive specialized Service. In such cases, the NGC may charge Service costs in accordance to Membership Levels.
    ③“Termination” refers to the act of a Member revoking their Subscription.
    ④“Expiration” refers to times when the valid period of a Membership to which a Member had subscribed is over or to any other circumstances where the Service is terminated.
    ⑤“Points” refer to the alternative method of payment available to subscribed Members of the NGC through which they can accumulate a portion of their payment amounts and can use parts or all of the accumulated points.
    ⑥“Extension” refers to the act of a Member renewing their Subscription within the period between one month and one day before Expiration to sustain their Membership.

    Article3 (Signing up for Membership)
    ① A customer shall be granted a Membership of particular Level for a specific period of time after they agree to Terms of Use and pay Service costs.
    ② The registration contract enters into effect as the Member receives the NGC’s Terms of Use.

    Article 4 (Termination of Membership by Members)
    ① Members may demand the termination of their Subscriptions, and the NGC shall immediately process such requests except in the following cases. 1. When relevant laws provide for specific reasons for rejecting such Termination demands 2. When a Member intends to keep receiving specialized services of a particular Membership level by paying the relevant annual fees (If a Member wants to stop receiving services, the NGC shall process Termination as stated in “Article 10 Refund Policy”)
    ② When a Subscription is terminated by a Member, the NGC shall immediately delete all the information provided by the Member except for the minimum necessary information for signing up for the NGC website. The Member shall not be entitled to demand the restoration of the deleted information.

    Article 5 (Modifying Registration Details)
    ① When there occur changes in the information provided during registration for membership, the Member shall modify the details directly or request such modifications to the NGC.
    ② The NGC is not responsible for any damages that should arise in accordance to Clause 1.

    Article 6 (Membership Application and Registration of Minors)
    ① When a minor applies for Membership, the NGC shall acquire a consent from their legal representatives. The NGC may reject the application for Membership by minors who have not acquired the consent of their legal representatives.
    ② The NGC shall process the refund in accordance with the refund policies stated in this Terms of Use in cases where a legal representative of a minor requests a consent.


    Chapter 2. Services by Membership Levels

    Article 7 (Membership Levels, Annual Fees, Valid Period, Registration)
    ① The NGC’s Membership Levels, annual fees, valid periods and other registration standards are as follows.
    1. Euteum Members: annual fees of 100,000 KRW, valid period of one year
    2. Beogeum Members: annual fees of 30,000 KRW, valid period of one year
    ② Notwithstanding the previous Clause, there may be discounts in annual fees when the NGC executes promotions.
    ③ The NGC may provide one additional invitational ticket to those who have made Subscriptions three times or more. If the Member demands Termination, the provided invitational ticket shall not be included in the number of used or residual tickets.
    ④ Members cannot temporarily stop the progress of the valid period of a Subscription due to their personal reasons.
    ⑤ Members may pay the annual fees by credit cards, deposits to a virtual bank account, cash, points or any other methods designated by the NGC. The payment methods shall be subject to the followings.
    1. One should input the necessary information to authorize the credit card use with the consent of Members.
    2. When members choose to pay through direct deposits to a virtual bank accounts, they shall choose their banks for transaction among the ones that have contractual relationship with the NGC

    Article 8 (Issuance and Re-issuance of Membership Cards)
    ① The NGC shall issue Membership Cards to Members.
    ② Membership Cards issued via the NGC mobile application or the NGC mobile website are acknowledged and can be issued to Members of all levels of Membership.
    ③ The loss of or damage to Membership Cards occurring due to the negligence on the part of Members shall require issuance fee of 2,000 KRW (payable only in cash) which should be paid by the Members. In this case, the Members cannot use their points.
    ④ Physical Membership Cards shall be re-issued, when explicitly requested, to Members who ask for Extensions to their Subscriptions.

    Article 9 (Types of Membership Service)
    ① The Service provided by the NGC is as follows and is selectively provided in accordance to each Membership Level. General Members (default Membership Level) will not receive the services stated below. 1. Receiving periodicals and concert guides published by the NGC by mail (provided that the Members shall reside in the Republic of Korea and consent to provide personal information)
    2. Purchasing tickets (up to 5) at discount prices with 30- or 50-percent off for performances designated by the NGC (For some performances, the number of tickets purchasable at discount prices may be limited to less than five.) 3. Prior Booking of tickets (through NGC website) for the performances produced by the NGC in advance of their availability to the general audiences. 4. Invitational tickets for NGC performances (ten for Euteum Members, four for Beogeum Members) The tickets can be used only when reservations for the shows are made through the NGC website within the valid periods of Subscriptions. Invitational tickets for different shows can come with different classes of seats. 5. Receiving the NGC Newsletters, NGC updates, text-message guide services (provided only to Members who agree to receiving emails and text messages)
    6. Discount benefits at affiliated companies (Affiliated companies differ from each other in the discount benefits. The list of the affiliated companies can change from time to time.)
    7. Accumulation and use of Points (subject to Chapter 3 The NGC Points)

    Article 10 (Refund Policy)
    ① When a Member demands Termination, the NGC shall implement refunds according to the following formula. {Annual Fees - (10% of Annual Fees)} ÷ 12 x the number of residual months = Amount of refund If the terminating Member made use of Service such as invitational tickets, discounts or points, the full price of the used invitational tickets or discounted amounts shall be excluded from the amounts to be refunded. If the monetary value of the used Service exceeds the annual fees which had been paid by the Member, the refund request shall be denied.
    ② When a Member demands the refund of annual fees that he/she paid in order to change their Membership Levels, such Membership level change can be processed after the refund according to the previous clause (100% refund when such demand is made withing three months of Subscription) has been completed. If the Member made use of Service such as invitational tickets, discounts or points, the already used part of Service shall be excluded from the benefits associated with new Membership Levels.


    Chapter 3. The NGC Points

    Article 11 (Scope of Application) Subscribed Members can save up and use points. Members who have not subscribed cannot save up or use points.

    Article 12 (Accumulation of Points) ① Members can save up points as follows.

    ② Points shall be accumulated as follows, with the rate of accumulation being as stated in Clause
    1. Immediately after the payment is made, under the name of the Member
    2. Points are not accumulated for any method of payment which is not covered by the Member, including coupons 3. Points are not accumulated for payments made by using points.
    ③ The accumulation of points will be cancelled even if the point had already been saved, under circumstances in which the Member will get a partial or full refund. In this case, refund refers to all forms of refund, including the refund attributable to the customer’s change of mind or the reasons attributable to the NGC.
    ④ Members cannot use the accumulated points if they have not converted the points into a usable status beforehand in accordance to Article 13 (Using the Points).
    ⑤ The NGC does not retroactively apply the points for payments which had been made before the implementation of this Terms of Use.
    ⑥ Points are not retroactively applied for payments which were made as non-members even if the customer becomes a Member later. This clause will be applied to the cases when Members make their payments without signing in.

    Article 13 (Using the Points)
    ① Points may be used for activities stated below.
    1. Purchasing tickets for performances through the NGC ticketing system (This may not apply to some of the performances designated by the NGC.)
    2. Purchasing online courses in E-Gugak Academy website (experiential courses excluded)
    3. Signing up for the NGC’s subscribed Membership
    4. Other services designated by the NGC
    ② When used, the points are deducted in the order of their accumulation.
    ③ When a Member uses points as a part of payment for activities stated in Clause 1 and then cancels the purchases, the refund of the used points comes before that of the entire purchase prices. In other words, the NGC shall first refund the amount of points used for the cancelled purchases before returning the residual amounts in designated refund methods.

    Article 14 (Prohibition of Transfer and Disposal Rights)
    ① Members can neither convert the points or services purchased via points into money nor can they transfer or sell the points they have accumulated to others.
    ② Points are not succeeded to Members’ inheritors or transferees and do not belong in Members’property.
    ③ Members may not transfer or attempt to use the points to accounts belonging to a third party or themselves.
    ④ In cases Members die or are deemed incapacitated and unable to make their own decisions, the Members’ points and the benefits lose effect and the Members are deemed to have lost the right to the points.

    Article 15 (Expiration Date, Expiry and Prohibition of Use)
    ① Points are valid for three years, expiring on the day three years after they were accumulated. (Example: Points accumulated on Jan. 2nd 2020 → Valid until Jan. 1st 2023 → Expires on Jan. 2nd 2023)
    ② Points shall automatically expire when a Member forfeits their membership or when the Member withdraws. The points will not be reinstated even when the Member re-registers.

    Article 16 (Objection and Exemption)
    ① Members have authority to confirm whether their points have been accurately recorded. When Members decide that their acquired points have not been appropriately recorded, they can submit relevant documented evidence and object to the recordings. The objection, however, must be made within 6 months after the date the point was accumulated or used or is required to be accumulated or used.
    ② The NGC can temporarily or permanently ban the usage of points for the Members who have used the points in disregard to this Terms of Use or customary usage. In this case, the NGC shall inform the Members of this fact via e-mail or by sending a letter and the Members may object to this by submitting appropriate documentary evidence to the NGC within 6 months of being banned from using the points.
    ③ When informing or sending documents in relevance to the points policy based on the personal information listed in the NGC system, the NGC assumes no responsibility for the reply, late reply, loss or the miscarriage of the pertaining documents due to errors in the personal information and is exempt from the responsibility to inform.


    Addenda

    This Terms of Use shall enter into force as of April 1st, 2020.
