Our Folk Music Group (Orchestra) covers a variety of folk music genres, including Pansori (which is a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage), Sanjo, Minyo, Byeongchang, Samulori, etc. Our group has been trying to convey the essence of Korean folk music to the audiences inside and outside the country.

The Group has been staging various kinds of traditionally-transmitted as well as newly-creative works through the events of series (1981~1996) and (1997~2004). In 2000s, the groups had focused on the development of new vocal-centered repertoires and on the restoration of Guppungnyu and Minganpungnyu genre which had been originated from Seoul and Gyeonggi Provinces. Since 2010s, the group has held the festival in which various kinds of performative genres are together staged. Since 2014, the group staged “Jageun Changgeuk” series by recreating the five traditional Pansori repertoires. In addition, the group recreated the “Sandaheui” festivity as a form of modern stage art. The names of music directors are as follows: Seo Yong Seok, Park Jong Seon, Kim Cheong Man, Yi Chun Hee, Choi Gyeong Man, Gang Jeong Suk, An Suk Seon, Han Se Heon, and (currently) Kim Yeong Gi.
