A (Treasure) House of Korean Traditional Performing Arts
Our Center has preserved a variety of traditional genres including court music, folk music and dance, all of which has been transmitted for a long time. In addition, we support new kinds of music that will be our future tradition. Our efforts will broaden the horizon of our musics of here-and-now as well as of the future.
The four performance groups of our center – Court Music Orchestra, Folk Music Group, Dance Theater, and Contemporary Gugak Orchestra – have skilled performers of various gugak genres that has been performed within court and private sectors in history. Our groups keep trying to relocate these traditional arts to a part of the contemporary world.
